Hello! My name is Ashley Melendez, I’m a singer, an artist and an entrepreneur. I can’t wait to share with you about what it’s like being a musician, share my musical experiences and blog about singing aspects in the music business. Here’s a little bit about me and what my blogs will be about.
I grew up most of my life in Las Vegas, but I have been living in Reno for the past 12 years. I have been singing since I was 4 years old, it’s in my genes and it’s in my soul. In 2015, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Nevada, Reno, studying vocal classical music. I work at the university as an administrative assistant. I’m pursuing my MBA in Music Business and I want to open a non-profit music studio program in the next few years.
I started my love of music by joining choir in middle school. Originally, I was a very shy singer, but I was asked by my choir teacher to sing a duet of “A Whole New World” by Walt Disney’s Aladdin and when I sung on stage for the first time, it was a feeling of magic. I sung in choir all of my middle school, high school and college years and studied voice lessons. I sing locally in the Reno-Sparks area and I will be opening up my own private voice studio in the near future.
